The history of Island Radiology Mandeville
BORN OUT of the vision of a group of professionals about serving the imaging needs of Jamaica, a dining-table meeting in 2003 laid the foundation for the establishment of Island Radiology. By 2004, the vision became a reality and Island Radiology Ocho Rios was established. This flagship company was the first imaging centre of its kind in St Ann.
Island Radiology Ocho Rios, through its full radiology services – X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, interventional procedures and reliable after-hours emergency service – revolutionised the diagnostic imaging landscape in the county of Middlesex.
In keeping with its vision, three short years later, Island Radiology ventured into Manchester and launched its Mandeville centre. Island Radiology Mandeville, on its march to excellence, raised the bar yet again and was the first imaging centre to introduce and maintain MRI services in the region. This year marks Island Radiology Mandeville’s 10th anniversary – a significant
milestone in an extremely competitive industry.
With successes in Ocho Rios and Mandeville, Island Radiology, in an effort to offer affordable and available imaging solutions to residents of the southwestern region, opened a satellite office in Santa Cruz in 2008. This decision to provide imaging solutions to St Elizabeth served to further cement Island Radiology’s position as a major contender in the radiology industry.
Over the past five years, Island Radiology Mandeville has partnered with the Lions Club of Mandeville. This partnership allows them to give back to the community through the Lions Club’s outreach programmes, which provide voluntary services and sponsorships for Manchester.
