Youth ambassador Shanice received $1 million towards her tuition

-

SHANICE SAMPSON, a 20-year-old student from Lucea, Hanover, is the first youth ambassador for the local BPO industry after being selected from a very competitive field of applicants for the BPO Scholarship and Internship Awards Programme.

Sampson attends the University of the West Indies (UWI) Western campus and is pursuing a degree in integrated marketing and communication and a minor in entertainment and cultural enterprise management. Her desire is to become a production manager, and she will receive $100,000 towards her tuition, as she strives towards her goal.

“I learnt about the programme through my university and decided to participate because I wanted to gain some work experience. This also gives me an opportunity to be a voice for this sector, especially to my peers, because a lot of persons don’t know anything about the sector,” said a proud Shanice Sampson.

Sampson began her 10-month tenure on October 2 and works under the supervision of the manager of the BPIAJ contact centre incubator at the Montego Bay Free Zone. She will participate in various activities including forums, meetings and seminars to educate the public about the BPO industry.

The part-time role will demand 20 hours per week, with a mandatory minimum of 12 hours per week in office.
