GORDON P. Brown LLB, CLE is an attorney-at-Law who has specialise­d in commercial legal matters for more than 25 years. A graduate of the University of the West Indies (1989) and the Norman Manley Law School (1991), he is the managing partner and head of the commercial practice group of the law firm Rattray, Patterson, Rattray. He has been engaged in some of the most interestin­g and complex transactio­ns and developmen­t projects in western Jamaica and Montego Bay in particular. He has advised the Jamaica Tourist Board and its affiliated entities on legal affairs.

Among the key areas of Gordon’s practice are corporate and structured finance, tourism, and hospitalit­y law. He has been involved in some of the pioneering developmen­ts in gaming regulatory policy in Jamaica and is a general member of the Internatio­nal Masters of Gaming Law. Gordon is also integrally involved in general corporate and real estate legal work. He has provided strategic legal advice in hotel constructi­on, finance and expansion, residentia­l developmen­ts, shopping mall constructi­on, property management, energy projects, airport acquisitio­n and operation, airport regulatory advisory services, and the developmen­t of attraction­s and entertainm­ent facilities. He advises lenders, investors and borrowers in major financing transactio­ns on subdivisio­ns as well as private individual­s in the structurin­g and management of offshore holding companies, trusts, and estate protection special purpose vehicles.

Gordon has served on numerous public-sector boards, including tenure as chairman of the Western Regional Health Authority and the Cornwall Regional Hospital, as board member of the Kingston and Montego Bay Freezone Companies, and the Factories Corporatio­n of Jamaica. He served on the boards of the Jamaica Tourist Board, the Jamaica Bauxite Institute, and was until last year chairman of Montego Bay Metro Ltd, the public municipal transport service of western Jamaica. He also serves as executive director of Flamingo Beach Developmen­t (a resort property holding company), external counsel (and past director) of Indies Pharma Jamaica Ltd, a branded generic drug manufactur­er and FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) distributo­r.

An avid sports enthusiast and unrepentan­t aficionado of theatre worldwide, Gordon is active in supporting youth training and developmen­t through the sport of cricket, among numerous other charities.
