30 players for FLOW All-Star training camp
THIRTY SCHOOLBOY football stars will be given the opportunity to showcase their talent and get expert advice from English Premier League coaches at the FLOW Super Cup All-Star oneday training camp to be conducted by Manchester United next month.
The camp is scheduled for January 28 at a venue to be named by organisers, FLOW. The first 15 players named on Team One were announced yesterday at a press briefing at the Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston.
The other 15 players will be selected by members of the public via a social media portal that opens today. Team Two will be announced next Friday.
PLAYERS’ DEVELOPMENT
FLOW’s vice-president of marketing, Carlo Redwood, said that the training day is designed to support the further development of the promising players.
“Since the inception of the FLOW Super Cup, it has always been our intention to introduce an element of personal development for the players outside of the local leagues. We have found a way to leverage our regional partnership with the most popular football club in the world; Manchester United. We are both very excited about the potential impact of the planned event,” Redwood said.
“We will continue on our mission to connect communities and improve lives. We see potential in the players and believe the camp will be of tremendous benefit to them. They will improve personally, and that will help to improve our football,” he shared.
FLOW’s sponsorship manager, Stephen Miller, who announced the list of 15 players on Team One, explained that each of the selected players received at least two nominations from the participating media practitioners who observed the 2017 ISSAFLOW Super Cup season.
“Members of the public will also have the opportunity to give their favourite players a chance to get this fantastic opportunity by voting on our FLOW Facebook page,” Miller outlined.
In 2015, FLOW signed an exclusive multiyear agreement with Manchester United. Both organisations have committed to working together to help further develop football across the region through competitions and coaching programmes with Manchester United Soccer Schools.
The first 15 players selected are: Jeadine White and David Smith (St Andrew Technical High); Chadeem Rodriques, Javain Brown, Antoniel Mullings, Fabian Grant and Rashawn Mackison (Kingston College); Maliek Howell, Tyreek Magee (Jamaica College); Clifton Woodbine and Chris Andrew Dixon (St Elizabeth Technical); Kaheem Parris (Dinthill Technical); Lamar Walker (Clarendon College); Colin Anderson and Orane Ferguson (Calabar).
