BIGGER & BETTER for Mark Anthony Designs
JUST WHEN you thought it couldn’t get any better for Mark Anthony Designs, it does! The fashion designer recently relocated his store to a grander space, on Fairview Avenue, with hopes of taking his collections to a higher level. We were on the social scene at the opening which took the form of a sip and shop, and we were absolutely mesmerised by not just the decor, but also by the custom designs offered in store.
Speaking to Today, Anthony explained that he needed a change for more growth and visibility. “Where I was before was hidden. There wasn’t enough traffic, and I wanted to be more accessible.” Anthony, who started out designing shirts and limited edition socks, has now branched out into providing the complete package – from customised suits, ties, and vests, to accessories like pocket ties and cufflinks, as well as hats and scarves.
The launch wasn’t your typical sip and shop. There was also live music, and hors d’oeuvres and libations courtesy of Caribbean Producers Jamaica Ltd for all to savour. Elated by the turnout, Anthony said, “It feels good knowing that I have received such great support from customers and those who are not yet customers. For them to take time out of their busy schedules to come and encourage and endorse a local designer speaks volumes, and I’d like to thank each and every one for coming. It’s good to feel appreciated for the work you’re putting in.”
