Proud of our partnership with JCA
THE PORT Authority of Jamaica (PAJ) takes pleasure in extending congratulations to the Jamaica Customs Agency for another successful year and the celebration of International Customs Day 2018. The Jamaica Customs Agency continues to play a critical role in Jamaica’s border security while positioning itself to facilitate international trade and commerce. The recognition, understanding and operationalisation of these critical roles of border protection and trade facilitation are vital to the national interest of the country in general and, particularly, the economic well-being of all citizens.
THE PARTNERSHIP
The Port Authority of Jamaica has been proud to partner with the Jamaica Customs Agency in its efforts at improving the execution of these roles, and delivering a satisfactory level of service to the Jamaican public. The partnership between the two organisations includes maintaining the integrity of cargo entering and departing the country’s ports, the safe movements of passengers at the cruise ship ports, and the implementation of a seamless electronic information system in the Port Community System for the processing of cargo.
The agency has been on a path of modernisation and continuous improvement of its various processes to meet the needs of a modern economy, operating in an everincreasing globalised international trade environment. These efforts are accompanied by the development of the human capital and increased use of technology. The result is a gradual and important increase in the quality of service delivery to the public, who are more discerning and who demand services on par with the highest international standards. These efforts augur well for the Agency and the public they serve.
We give the assurance of our commitment to continue our partnership in the best interest of Jamaica. We wish the Jamaica Customs Agency continued success on this important day of celebration in conjunction with its sister agencies throughout the world.
“We give the assurance of our commitment to continue our partnership in the best interest of Jamaica.”
