A simple smile has the power to transform our world

- WITH MAAS GUSSIE

HELLO, MI neighbour! How’s your day so far? So far so good? Or not so bright? Well, you aren’t alone. Some days are just like that. By the way, did you pray for a neighbour this morning? Most of us pray for our self and those in our inner circle every day and seldom tap into the rich blessings that flow to all whenever we pray for all, including those classified as the enemy? Think about it.

And how about showing compassion to another person who doesn’t deserve it? Holding good thoughts in our heart for others, turns blue days into beautiful ones. We often forget our awesome responsibility of helping to bear the weight of the good, bad and indifferent around us and rob ourselves of the joy the adherence to such responsibility enables. Follow the 10 Commandments and see the amazing difference this will make to life’s enjoyment!

Another human obligation we have is to smile at one another. Scientists and like -minded scholars say that a simple smile has the power to transform our world. It makes most persons appear more attractive and lifts the mood of ever yone in its presence while working as a lifelengthener. Smile and read along.

Each smile puts our brain in a party-like mood to which the entire body dances, thus becoming healthier. A smile is a good stress fighter – relaxing the body and lowering the heart rate and blood pressure. So a smile, which most can produce, could be the most economical pathway to good health! Smile.

A NATURAL PAIN RELIEVER

More good news is that a smile ac ts as natural pain reliever, without the potential negative side effects of synthetic concoctions, and does not need a doc tor ’s prescription or permission from any one.

One study reported that an attractive, smiling face activates the region in the brain that processes sensory rewards, suggesting that whenever we see someone smiling, we actually feel rewarded. It has also been found that if we are smiling at someone, it’s likely he/she can’t help but smile back – it takes a conscious effort not to.

Each time we smile at our neighbours, their brain urges them to return the favour. We are thereby creating a relationship that allows both of us to release feel-good chemicals in our brain, activate reward centres, make us both more attractive, and increase the chances of living longer, healthier lives.

So, make it a priority to surround yourself with people, places, and things that put a smile on your face every day.

And remember to visit the dentist regularly to help maintain and enhance your gift of a smile (smile). Please remember also to put a smile on the face of someone from the list below by offering him/her a gift.
