Rockfort hunt Tivoli scalp

COACH OF Tivoli Gardens Omar ‘Tiger’ Edwards says that his team will be taking Rockfort seriously in their JN Visa/KSAFA Jackie Bell Knockout quarter-final today.

The game is the opener of a double-header at the Harbour View Stadium, starting at 5 p.m., with Harbour View tackling Browns Town in the feature at 7 p.m.

Defending champions Tivoli are coming off a hard-fought 1-0 win against KSAFA Super League outfit Molynes United in the third round last Wednesday, and will be going up against another KSAFA Super League contender in the last eight stage.

The Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) campaigner­s are looking to retain the title, and Edwards stressed that his boys are focused and committed going into the contest.

“The competitio­n is getting down to the wire and we are giving it our best shot. We will be playing some of our top players. Rockfort will be highly motivated, so we will have to be mindful of them,” Edwards told The Gleaner yesterday. “We have to star t the game properly, and finish strongly, to continue to move forward as the defending champions.”

Rockfort’s Omar Henry is fully aware of the challenge that awaits against the defending champions.

“It is a very huge one coming up against the defending champions, Tivoli Gardens. We are very excited to be meeting them. The goal is to go out there and do our best and hopefully come out winners,” said Henr y, who coaches the east Kingston-based team.

Rockor t ’s key players i nclude veteran goalkeeper Russell Hosang, captain Albert Aaron, Dane Coyle and Twaine Winter.
