THE LIGUANEA Preparatory School was founded 45 years ago by Miss Boyd Brown, a well-known educator in her time. We are situated on King’s House Lands at 15A East Kings House Road, Kingston 6.
Our passion is education and socialisation. We, therefore, embrace students from varied socio-economic backgrounds and learning abilities. Our nursery caters to children from three months to three years; kindergarten, from three to five years; and our preparatory department from six to 12 years. Our Special Needs Department is a multi-grade facility.
The school is under the management of a board of trustees, with the chairman being Donald S. Reynolds and the principal, Dr Paulette Francis- McGregor. All our teachers, specialists, and caregivers are fully trained professionals for the positions they hold. The school is a registered member of the Jamaica Independent Schools’ Association (JISA), and we use the curriculum guides provided by the Ministry of Education. In addition to the regular curriculum, the school offers training in vital lifestyle skills, modern etiquette, social skills, protocol and conflict resolution. The children participate in all sporting and extra-curricular activities in conjunction with other preparatory schools and those organised by JISA.

Our mandate is to develop the total child, providing stimulating learning programmes that will enable each child to develop emotionally, creatively, socially, and physically.
We believe that every child is capable of learning and that there is a role in life for everyone.
Therefore, The Liguanea Preparatory School has created an environment – physically and mentally – that prepares all children who come under its tutelage to be proud, independent, and focused, knowing that they will graduate to the high school of their choice armed with tools needed for the next step in their journey.
We have a website and have embraced appropriate social media that will keep you informed of the school’s activities. We also invite you to visit our campus, and you will realise that we are the school of choice for your precious ones. The application forms are on our website, or you can pick them up on campus. Walk with the child’s birth certificate, immunisation certificate, and two passport-size photographs.
