- Kimberley Small/Gleaner Writer

DREAMING WHILST Black, a web series written and directed by Jamaica-born filmmaker Adjani Salmon, will premiere in six major cities – Shanghai, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Miami and Kingston on Sunday.

“If we can make this work, if I can get this on Netflix, after that I can go to [the] bank and say I need to borrow some money to make a film,” Andre Burnett told The Gleaner.

Burnett is the managing director of MUSE, an advertising agency that has taken up the marketing responsibilities of the brand-new web series. Alongside MUSE, Larren Peart of Blue Dot Media and Kimala Bennet of The Limners and Bards Limited have also signed on to assist promoting the buzz wor thy event.

“We’ve been tr ying to get creativity to be taken seriously, as business. As a filmmaker going into a meeting versus, approaching potential investors as a managing director of an advertising agency, it makes a difference,” Burnett continued.

“Somebody is going to come knocking for Caribbean content. And to be frank, content doesn’t have to be that good. Adam Sandler is the most streamed actor on Netflix. We play Kushie in the middle of the day – it nuh mek nuh sense!” the young entrepreneur exclaimed.

Burnett said the Dreaming Whilst Black story is well written, and so he jumped at the chance to market the finished product.

Kingston’s premiere of Dreaming Whilst Black is sponsored by Appleton Estate, and will be held at the The Cove, 3 Winchester Road.
