Seprod head toasts bakers
PAUL B. Scott, chairman of the Seprod Group Board of Directors, has singled out bakers and retailers as critical to the company’s success over the years and vowed to match their contribution with ongoing customer service of the highest order.
“There is one particular group of people that I must thank who, really, are the reason why we are here. I would really like to give my sincere gratitude to the bakers and the retail trade in Jamaica because without them, we’re nothing,” said Scott. “The customers and the retail trade make everything possible for us, and it’s something that we take very seriously at Seprod,” Scott stated during yesterday’s official factory opening and launch of Gold Seal Flour by Jamaica Grain and Cereals Limited, an associate company of Seprod.
“We have been in the trade – servicing bakers and the retail trade – for over 50 years. Jamaica Grain and Cereals as well as the Seprod Group take our relationship with you, the trade, the bakers, very seriously, and we will not compromise on customer service and will, most certainly, never compromise on quality. That is our commitment to you,” Scott declared.
“This facility is first class. It has an innovation lab, and it has capacity to do a lot of different things for a l ot of different bakers, and we look forward to working with all the bakers as partners in the future in developing quality solutions to their own needs,” Scott added.
Established in 1969, the plant was upgraded last year to the tune of $3 billion in a jointventure initiative with Seaboard Corporation, a United Statesbased Fortune 500 company, and facilitated the company’s foray into flour production under the Gold Seal brand, which now sees the company producing counter flour, baking flour, whole wheat flour, and speciality value-added products. The investment will also allow Jamaica Grain and Cereals to increase its cornmeal production to better satisfy demand throughout the Caribbean.
The capacity to produce corn and flour products for local and regional markets has been increased by 400 per cent, and its grain storage capacity by 1,000 per cent. The multi-grain mill now has the ability to produce over five thousand 45kg bags of flour and 1,500 bags of cornmeal daily.
