Campari powers Saint’s Avant Garde Fashion Face Weekend

THIS WEEKEND, brand Campari and Saint Internatio­nal reaffirm their partnershi­p with the 2018 staging of the Avant Garde Fashion Face Weekend.

The two-day affair starts today with an i nvitation-only VIP glamfest, where media, business leaders, diplomats, and socialites gather to pay homage to the recent, historic internatio­nal success of Saint Internatio­nal models. Saint models carried the Jamaican flag front and centre on the world’s most prominent runways this past season i n places like Paris, London, New York and Milan.

Deiwght Peters, Saint ’s founder and CEO, premiered two new talents to worldwide acclaim – Shanniel Williams was booked as a world- exclusive debut for British heritage brand Burberr y, while Haytal Blackwood made a fabulous entr y at I talian powerhouse Gucci (also booked directly by Peters).

Anticipati­on is high to meet the groundbrea­king group of Saint models dubbed the ‘Balenciaga 8’ – so named after they created history walking as a team f or the power ful and legendary French house of Balenciaga during their recent Fall 2018 collection in Paris.

An added bonus is the arrival of Saint supermodel Tami Williams, who is now starring in the global fall campaign for Balmain and Spanish trend retailer Zara.

Williams will also ser ve as guest judge for the Fashion Face of the Caribbean contest, where 70 contestant­s from Jamaica, Guadeloupe and The Bahamas will compete for the honours. She will also be joined on the runway by her other Saint stars, including Barbra Lee Grant, Naki Depass, Tevin Steele, Lydia Barnett.

CAMPARI PRIZE

A major highlight of the double-ticket event is the Campari-sponsored Avant Garde Designer of the Year. This year, more than 10 designers will compete for the longest-running and most prestigiou­s designers’ title in the region. Themed on the essence of glamour and high-style associated with Campari and Saint, a lot of magic is expected from the finalists. The winning entry will walk away with a Campari-sponsored $50,000 cash prize.

An eminent panel of judges has been assembled and includes Montego Bay businessma­n Davon Crump (former president of the Mobay Chamber of Commerce), ar tiste Phillip Thomas art consultant Rachael Barrett, Line Despax (wife of the French Ambassador to Jamaica), luxury fashion consultant Sophia Max Brown, and Pierre Lemaire, director of the Edna Manley School of the Visual Arts.

Hosted by Deiwght Peters, the evening’s enter tainment quotient will be heightened with exciting per formances from Naomi Cowan, Koriq, and D’Voice.
