THIS YEAR Expo Jamaica, the Caribbean’s largest trade show, has taken a major step into the future by fully digitising all services for the four-day exhibition. This step pushes the showcasing of Jamaican manufacturing forward and has already produced a growth in international buyer participation.

The event organisers, the Jamaica Manufacturers Association (JMA), the Jamaica Exporters Association (JEA) and the local business and investment facilitation arm of the Government, JAMPRO, all benefit from technology that digitises all processes for exhibitors, buyers and the consumers. Booth purchasing, exhibitor registration, meeting exchanges, buyer registration and ticket sales to the event are all online for the 2018 staging.

The conference technology, which is designed by ecommerce and web enterprise players Quickcanoe.com, allows Expo Jamaica 2018 to offer a first class ecommerce service to participants.

‘The digitising of our processes is definitely the way forward and we now join the leading conferences across the world in offering a user friendly platform.’

ONLINE SERVICES

Many of these online services are new to the Expo Jamaica experience. Among them are:

I Exhibitors can register and purchase booth space online.

I Buyers can register online hassle-free.

I Buyers looking to do business with Jamaican companies can also book meetings with other buyers and exhibitors using Quickcanoe Engage – a new fully digital business-to-business meeting system which provides meeting analytics to conference organisers. The technology behind Quickcanoe Engage will empower the JMA, JEA and JAMPRO with analytical data that shows the meetings and transactions between exhibitors and buyers.

Consumers eager to see the Jamaican goods on display this weekend can now purchase tickets to attend Expo Jamaica – all online at Expojamaica.jm and at Quick canoe.com.

The JMA is excited about the changes that the digital technology is bringing to the marquee event, which showcases Jamaica manufacturing and innovation.

“The digitising of our processes is definitely the way forward and we now join the leading conferences across the world in offering a user friendly platform,” said Imega BreeseMcNab, executive director of the JMA.

“Beyond this, we are now more responsive to the needs of our exhibitors and buyers because of the deep Data Analytics provided by Quickcanoe which will inform our next steps after the Expo has ended.”

Cost reduction through technology has also been a big advantage for the JMA and JEA. The efficiency of using an online platform means staff can be used more smartly and resources reallocated where it’s needed most.
