IT WAS a night to remember as the Nigerian high commissioner, Ambassador Janet Olisa, hosted the International Proxy Parents (IPP) Wine and Cheese Soirée at her residence on Wednesday evening. Diplomats, corporate Jamaica and professionals gathered on the lawns to experience some mouthwatering dishes, fine wines and entertainment.

IPP, a non-profit charitable organisation, organises a wine and cheese event every year to provide scholarships for 50-60 students in 15 secondary schools islandwide who are excelling academically but are in dire financial need.

Host for the evening, Nigerian High Commissioner Olisa, was a vision of beauty and elegance in royal blue, and specially invited guests followed the style protocol, opting for suits of African print or sticking to bold solid colours, rocking the latest looks that either clung to or swayed from the body.

Aside from the fashionistas present, Courtney Washington set the trend, rocking the runway in exquisite Africaninspired originals. Carlton Brown stayed true to dapper form, showcasing his men’s collection.

Classical violinist Stephen Woodham and guitarist/vocalist Charmaine Lemonious offered timeless performances. L’ACadco Drummers lit up stage, making an appearance, not once, but twice. Richie Stephens closed the show with a bang and had his attentive audience on their feet.

Peter Phillips Disco represented throughout the night, but stole the show with some timeless soca hits during the after-party.
