1974:basic Ground for the site of a school at Bagga Park in Waterhouse is broken by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance David Coore. The school, which is to be built for over 300 pupils, is estimated to cost J$12,000, plus fittings. The land for the school is donated by the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation.

1982:running Shock waves are still through the Jamaican tourist industry following the sensational collapse of Sunflight Vacations Ltd, of Toronto, which has been sending thousands of Canadian visitors to Jamaica for some years now and has been responsible for thousands of dollars worth of business to the island. Tourist industry sources are still trying to come up with a figure for the extent of the loss, in money terms, as a result of the debacle, but up to late in the day there was nothing like a final figure. However, most sources agree that the figure could run into “millions of dollars”, having regard to the fact that Sunflight has been sending some 10,000 tourists to Jamaica during the winter season and another 5,000 during the summer season.

1993:Jamaica’s Courtney Walsh finishes ahead of the field in the recent Cable and Wireless Test series between the West Indies and Pakistan, as far as the bowling averages are concerned. The pace bowler, who also garners his 200th Test wicket during the series, takes 12 wickets at an average of 17.25 each, the same average that recalled teammate Winston Benjamin boasts.
