The following events took place on June 14 in the years identified:

1972:the Edna Manley leaves

island for Philadelph­ia to attend the opening of an exhibition of paintings by Jamaican artists and a reception in her honour. Both events are organised by David Berger, an eminent American attorney, who is a former president of the Pennsylvan­ia Law Associatio­n. Berger, who is also a noted Philadelph­ia patron of the arts, is a personal friend of the late Norman Manley.

1983:The Jamaica Mutual Life Assurance Society is to start constructi­on within another three weeks on its latest project, the Atrium, an office building complex at 32 Trafalgar Road, corner of Trafalgar and Garelli, at a cost of $20 million. The gross developmen­t value on completion is $34 million. In addition, within another 18 months the society will be constructi­ng two housing developmen­ts at 4-12 Renfrew Road and 13A Norbrook Road, a mini office warehouse complex on Half-Way Tree Road and a medical complex, adjoining the head office on Oxford Road, at a total cost of $85 million. Plans for these projects are announced by Edward Ashenheim, chairman of the Investment, Finance and Property Sub-Committee and Dennis Morgan, assistant vice president of investment­s, yesterday at the company’s head office on Oxford Road.

1994:are Diplomatic relations establishe­d by Jamaica with Belarus, a former member of the Soviet Union and now a member of the Commonweal­th of Independen­t States.
