Two bills passed by the

of Representa­tives are deferred for further considerat­ion by the Government in the Legislativ­e Council. They are the Travel Agents Control Bill and the Internatio­nal Business Companies tax incentives Bill. Deferring of the Travel Agents Bill follows representa­tions made by letter to the Government by travel agents, as a result of which members of both Houses are scheduled to receive a travel agent’s deputation. The Internatio­nal Business Companies bill is deferred by the government members of the Legislativ­e Council after they accepted the view of unofficial members that the bill requires further considerat­ion before passage into law.

Yvonne Whyte rewrites her name in the record book with a great run of 2:07 seconds for the event at the National Stadium at the first-ever Jamaica Amateur Athletic Associatio­n’s Senior Championsh­ips. Whyte, holder of the Jamaica national record of 2:08.6, breaks this by a huge 1:6 seconds to remain at the top of the list.
