Loyal and committed

-

EASTON DOUGLAS has contributed significantly to the welfare and development of his beloved country, Jamaica. He displayed great loyalty and commitment as a team player and exhibited persistence and tireless determination to get the job done. Easton knew and demonstrated what it was to see the big picture and take the long-term view.

Friends and adversaries alike have admired Easton’s powers of persuasion, tolerance and

non-confrontational approach. He believed in the cultures of community, stewardship and responsibility, which have been exemplified by his clear understanding that worth resides in character – meaning accountability, gratitude, honesty and compassion.

Easton sought to be a morally or spiritually elevating influence and he adhered to a culture of discipline.

Easton has run a good race from the Cockpit Country of Warsop in Trelawny, where I met him and he was a student of my parents, to the centre of government and leadership of this country, serving as an outstanding government town planner and thereafter as an effective and caring minister of government.

Easton Wentworth Xavier Douglas has played his part, he has made his contribution and he has finished the course. Well done, faithful servant leader.

May his soul rest in peace and light perpetual shine upon him.
