Amar will be too hot for Ice Cold

- Elton Tucker/ Assistant Editor – Sports

BULLET RAJ is a specialist over 800 metres straight and will give Sunrise-6 players a flying start in tomorrow’s opening race for the $250,000 claiming group.

In three starts over the distance this year, BULLET RAJ has not been out of the top two. On May 9 he finished second by half a length, then won by two and three-quarter lengths on July 8. A little under a month later, on August 4, he ended second by half a length. The last run came among $350,000 claimers. He drops back to $250,000 claimers over his favourite distance and should make no mistake from his advantageous stands’ side draw.

The second is a knotty race for non-winners of three over 1000 metres straight. Anthony Nunes’ ICE COLD is unbeaten in two starts and faces his biggest test. He has loads of speed but will not have things his own way on the lead and could fall to one of the run on horses.

WEIGHT IN HIS FAVOUR

AMAR, to be ridden by champion jockey Omar Walker, has both the weight and the distance in his favour. He came from off the pace to beat Paper Chase over the distance on May 23 then was a fastfinishing second to the progressive LADY JAELA on June 6.

GARY GLITTER is slowly regaining his best form and is poised to get off the mark for 2018 in the third, a 1100 metres race for $850,000 claimers. He ran an even race and ended up tenth by six lengths to HOVER CRAFT over 1000 metres straight in overnight allowance company on September 8. His final time was 58.3, This was just behind LADY JAELA in the same race, but the latter will be weakening late when GARY GLITTER is doing his best work. Linton Steadman will ride the selection.

Steadman can complete a quick double in the fourth over 1300 metres. He rides UNEXPECTED, who has been knocking at the door in recent starts and has finished in front of most of his rivals in head-to-head races. Steadman was also aboard UNEXPECTED when he scored his maiden win on May 19.

ELAL is tipped to beat stable companion CHEROKEE WAY in the fifth while in the sixth, OBAMA GIRL, a disqualified winner on June 30, should finally get off the mark in the 1700 metres event.
