STETHS wary of lowly Munro in St Elizabeth Derby

ST ELIZABETH TECHNICAL High School (STETHS) coach Omar ‘Rambo’ Wedderburn says his team will not underestimate lowly Munro College when they contest the first St Elizabeth derby at the STETHS Sports Complex in Santa Cruz this afternoon.

Struggling Munro have just three points from four games, having failed to win a single match so far and sit fourth in the six-team Zone E table while their counterparts STETHS top the zone with ten points from four matches.

“Honestly I’m not worrying about Munro failing to win this season so they can’t catch me off guard. Neither am I thinking about them not being good in front of goal this year. What I’m thinking about is the mindset my players have for the game tomorrow,” said Wedderburn.

“Yes, it’s a derby. We are not saying STETHS are going to be all over the Munro team or the Munro team is not good because we are conscious of the fact that it is a derby game,” he added.

Wedderburn, a former player for STETHS, said he is aware of what the St Elizabeth derby brings so his boys will just have to keep a level head for the entire 90 minutes.

“I don’t watch this derby only. I actually was a part of some in the 1990s so I understand what it is all about. So I know it’s a game that you can’t predict, you just have to go out there and do your very best. Games like these will be determined by how long you concentrate,” said Wedderburn.

“We are up for the task. As I say we are not underestimating this Munro team because derby games bring a lot of surprises,” he added.
