LITTLE LONDON High’s striker Tyreke Samuels who scored a brace in their ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup match against Knockalva Technical yesterday, says he is focused on being their number one striker by scoring goals in every game. Samuels’s goals came in the 29th and 39th minutes.

The other scorer for the hosts were Tyrone Reynolds (33rd). Dillon Dixon (77th) got the consolation for Knockalva.

“I’m feeling very good knowing that I helped my team get the three points,” said Samuels. “I have not set a target but I am going to continue putting out the effort and work very hard to try and score in every game I play. I was not a regular starter last year or even in the first games of this season but since I got my first start I’ve been improving so now I’m looking to cement that spot,” he added.

Jeffery Reece, coach of Little London, was impressed by the performance of his team.

“We did a lot of work coming into the match. I realised out of the three strikers Samuels was the one in the best shape. I put him in front of the goal Monday and Tuesday so we were expecting him to score,”said Reece.

“Last year, he was supposed to be one of our regular starters but was inconsistent. He didn’t like to train, but this year I pushed him to the extreme to get him in top shape,” he added.

“We lost eight of our regular starters from last year, so this is a pretty young team. They are actually gelling together now. A lot of people didn’t expect the team to be where they are now because we lost so many players but they have adapted fast and have more discipline than last year’s team.”
