Leon Bailey damn rude!

- JOHN ROYES jcroyes@gmail.com

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WHO THE hell does Leon Bailey think he is?!

We are all aware of the fact that he is an extremely talented footballer, but the existence of other positive attributes in this young man, if they do exist, have been extremely well hidden from us.

All of his utterances to date cast him as an arrogant, self-centred young man who is under the impression that he is God’s gift to Jamaica’s football, and without whose intervention salvation will never come to our island home.

His recent attempts to dictate terms to the Jamaica Football Federation, which, if not agreed upon, would result in his refusal to don our national colours, is nothing short of being damn rude!

Who is he to dictate which players are called for national duty? If this young upstart is given the opportunity to hold sway over our elected officials and coaches in any dictatorial manner, it will surely signal the end of any unity that we have struggled to attain in our national set-up. This prima donna behaviour must not be tolerated!

I wish to state that I am a Christian who believes in forgiveness and a fresh start. I, therefore, humbly suggest that he be issued one last invitation to train with our national squad. No conditions attached to his acceptance of our said invitation. No promise that he be included in the starting eleven.

Should he accept our terms, then fine. Should he refuse our terms, then issue the red card!
