ERROL LYNCH, the United Kingdom’s leading expert in the Chinese form of massage, Touch Tuina, is encouraging Jamaicans to take advantage of its wide range of benefits – both physiological as well as psychological – to increase well-being and speed up the body’s ability to heal itself.

Tuina (pronounced twee-na) has been practised in China for about 4,000 years, but is still a relatively new complementary therapy. It is an ancient healing art that employs the use of the hands to press on key points on the surface of the body.

When these points are stimulated, they release tension, increase circulation, and improve the body’s own natural healing process.

Tuina is hands-on therapy and the practitioner can stimulate many points during a single treatment, and dredge many channels/meridians when compared to acupuncture, as 400 needles may be too excessive for the patient to handle.

Lynch and co-founder Mariana Arando came together to open the first Tuina-based clinic and training centre to improve the standards of Tuina not only in the United Kingdom, but around the world.

Over the last few years, Lynch and Arando have been working in all sporting fields in Jamaica and with some of the island’s top athletes, including Yohan Blake, the Reggae Boyz and a number of local premier league clubs.

Touch Tuina has also partnered with the Llockett McGregor Tennis series in a drive to continue youth development locally, regionally and internationally. “Tennis being a singular and an elite sport, its players require a lot of support not only in competition, but through sponsorship,” Lynch said.

BRAND AWARENESS

“We are here to support and showcase what we do and how we treat all levels of youth and senior development within sports. By sponsoring these events, we bring brand awareness of Touch Tuina to Jamaica and show what can happen within the world of sports,” Lynch said.

According to Lynch, Touch Tuina is not just a massage, as his practitioners are trained in herbal medicine, acupuncture, cupping therapy, dietary therapy, and traditional Chinese medicine, western medical theory and practice, and physical therapy.

He is the UK’s leading therapist and master of Chinese medicine, with a client list which includes Britain’s sporting elite, premiership football’s Robin Van Persie, and Olympic athletes Perry Shakes Drayton and Marilyn Okoro.

Touch Tuina works with a wide range of complaints, including neck pain, stress, headache, migraine, back pain, sciatica, rheumatism, arthritis, joint pain or movement pain, ankle or wrist pain, sports Injuries, insomnia, stomach ailments, hormonal issues, and much more.
