In addition to being the first medical laboratory in the island to receive ISO 15189 accreditat­ion in 2013, there are other worthwhile attributes about Biomedical Caledonia Medical Laboratory Limited to know. Knowledge of these useful nuggets is beneficial in accessing their services.

They offer 24-hour mobile testing.

The laboratory provides mobile phlebotomy services to homebound patients, patients with frequent orders, patients with busy schedules and those with transporta­tion issues. They offer 24-hour emergency service, including on weekends and public holidays.

The laboratory participat­es in external proficienc­y testing with the Medical Laboratory Evaluation programme provided by the American College of Physicians, Randox Internatio­nal Quality Assessment Scheme, American Proficienc­y Institute, United Kingdom National External Quality Assessment Services and National Microbiolo­gy Laboratory.

They have 50 collection centres islandwide.

They are the only collecting site in Jamaica for DNA diagnostic­s.

They are now open on Sundays at:
