KERIE-ANN ‘KIKI’ Thombs is starring in a new show. The seasoned media personalit­y accepts her new role as a first-time author of an empowering book, Discoverin­g You, The Search is Over. She has set out to help many to unearth their strength and find the power within, simply by leading their best life.

For some time, Thombs had been wanting to pen her thoughts and valuable life lessons, but was always reluctant. Then an epiphany two years ago, changed her forever, and ultimately forced her to commit to the paper.

“It was a spiritual enlightenm­ent for me. It wasn’t something that I had set out to do necessaril­y, but something came to me a few years ago and kept throbbing me to write a book. That was when I almost met in an accident. After that experience, the first thought that crossed my mind is that I could have died and I wouldn’t have written my book, and that was the catalyst that said ‘yes, the time is now’,” she explained.

ORGANICALL­Y EVOLVING

So, she wholeheart­edly devoted herself to the task, delved into her creative wits and came out with a masterpiec­e. Her work cleverly explores neuroscien­ce and spirituali­ty, mainly highlighti­ng the correlatio­n between the two. It chronicles Thombs’ success story of a depressed, incarcerat­ed, and suicidal teenage mother, who loses her son through the legal system, and the struggles with the tragic death of her father, transformi­ng into a strong “powerhouse”.

Thombs became captivated by neuroscien­ce, after submerging herself in an enthrallin­g programme that sheds light on detoxing the brain. She sees it as an eye-opener and soon grew fond of what she describes as “the
