NCB and UCC partner to ease student bill payment
WITH SIGHTS set on expanding its reach, National Commercial Bank Jamaica (NCB) Limited, through its mobile money solution, Quisk, has partnered with one of Jamaica’s largest tertiary educational institutions, the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC).
Through the partnership, students can pay their UCC fees both on- and off-campus. This initiative enables students to make payments via text message or using the Quisk mobile app. They are also able to make cardless/cashless transactions via NCB point-of-sale terminals using their mobile number and secure six-digit PIN on campus.
NCB Quisk mobile money is a form of electronic money that allows consumers to conduct financial transactions via mobile app or text message (SMS). It allows financial services to be extended at significantly lower costs and sign-up requirements, with customers needing only an ID and TRN.
NCB Quisk UCC bill-payment option is an easy-to-use, affordable payment alternative for what could otherwise be a difficult and time-consuming process.
“Today, over 80 per cent of all transactions are conducted in cash,” said Lloydon Bramwell, product development manager at NCB Quisk.
“NCB Quisk is well placed to deliver the benefits of mobile money in a country with over 100 per cent mobile phone penetration and growing concerns around carrying cash ... . It is the only solution that allows users to pay in three different ways, using text message, mobile app or at the point-of-sale terminal,” Bramwell added.
The partnership further highlights a significant benefit, wherein students can now engage in a safer payment solution designed to reduce the risks associated with students’ use of cash.
