Richardson, Williams shine at age-group badminton

TAHLIA RICHARDSON and Mickhail Williams were triple winners in the first half of the NABUCO (National Associatio­n of Badminton Umpires and Court Officials) age group challenge at the Constant Spring Golf Club last weekend.

Richardson won the Under-19 girls singles over Tahlellah Townsend 21-6, 21-11. She then paired with Shezelle McTyson to win the Under-19 girls doubles, beating Stefani-Imani Brown and Rihanna Rust 2114, 21-16.

She topped off the evening with a 2113, 21-8 victory in the mixed doubles with partner and fellow triple winner Williams.

Williams won the Under-19 boys singles 21-7, 21-12 over Daniel Edwards, and with Adam Taylor by his side, he won the Under-19 boys doubles 21-13, 21-8 over Matthew Gibbs and Chrissano Hanner.

The double winners were 12-yearold Rust, 10-year-old Jelani Howell and Aundre Brown. Rust won the Under15 girls singles and the Under-15 girls doubles with partner Destiny Frater. Jelani Howell won the Under-11 boys singles and teamed with Brown to win the Under-15 boys doubles. Aundre Brown’s other win was the Under-15 boys singles.

The meet continues tomorrow with the Under-13, Under-17 and senior competitio­ns at 9 a.m. at the same venue.
