Wearing your intentions with Moon Goddess Crafts

- Jessica Harrison GLEANER WRITER jessica.harrison@gleanerjm.com

SPIRITUALITY IS an extensive concept with room for many perspectives depending on the person and his or her cultural background. More often than not, it includes a sense of connection to a deity bigger than ourselves and it usually involves a search for meaning in life. As such, it is a universal human experience; something that touches us all.

Healing stones are part of some people’s spiritual growth and instead of toting large pieces around like the yogis and gurus, Moon Goddess Crafts (IG: moongoddesscrafts_ja) came up with a solution to have those properties with us at all times, depending on what we need for any specific day or occasion.

THE BIRTH

Coming together not only out of trust and love from their pre-existing friendship, Shanieka Robinson and Vanessa Letman, started the two-and-a-half-year-old jewellery brand known as Moon Goddess Crafts, out of a genuine and innate need to help and guide others.

“It was a really organic process. I started working with raw stones first as a means of spiritual guidance and support, then I started playing around with wire. My hands became a means of creativity and sustainability. I never knew that I could do things with my hands,” said 25-year-old Letman.

Each piece of jewellery is designed with the wearer in mind and what they hope to achieve. They are made with natural elements such as clay, copper wire, and healing stones, for example, tiger’s eye, pyrite, quartz, and aventurine. The list is quite extensive. When the wearer receives each handmade piece, they are advised to speak their intentions over it and sport it as a symbol and constant beautiful reminder.

Robinson highlighted that Moon Goddess Craft, is more than just making aesthetically pleasing jewellery. It is a means of self improvement and spiritual healing.

UNDERSTANDING EACH PIECE

“Healing stones are a good way to start on your spiritual journey. When you wear it, you are wearing the intention of what you want. The key is understanding what each piece is about,” said cofounder Robinson.

What is it that you are looking for? Is it abundance? Better sleep? Perhaps you just want to honour and celebrate your femininity. These vibrant ladies seek to fulfil their purpose and help individuals of all generations move forward in self discovery and spirituality without the weight of religion. They focus on the holistic healing and development of the spirit man.

“Crystals are not magic. They won’t just automatically change your life. Crystals are tools to help you go to those deeper layers within yourself, but you still have to do the work.”
