‘Play your part in the welfare of the whole human race’

-

HELLO, MI neighbour! Please help me untangle this one: She dumped ‘Himmy’ because she detests liars! Now that she is with ‘Righty’, her mind is settled. He is honest and doesn’t hide anything from her. Whenever he cheats, he tells her – even the circumstances which lead to the encounter. Unlike most people, for her, it’s not one of those jawdropping moments which cause the body to feel frozen as the brain processes bad news. Let’s help her.

I was almost offended by a gentleman’s comment that he thought my last article was written by a woman but decided instead to see it as a compliment. I’ll explain another time. Of course, on many issues, women are better writers than men. We also acknowledge that as a human family, some people are strong in areas in which others are weak. Any wonder the all-wise Creator expects us to be complementary to one another? It’s His design. Sometimes we have to speak up for and defend another, especially in those circumstances where a victim’s voice is weak.

In my last article, I shared two scenarios in which two men could pass as pathological liars under some circumstances. In the first, a man was overheard proudly telling

his friend how he had skilfully dumped a young woman whom he had taken on a date. While they were at this party, his feeling towards her changed. On this, he told her that a woman who had beckoned to him from a distance was his wife. For fear of her life, the young miss disappeared into thin air. Actually, this other female was a long-time acquaintance of the gentleman.

In the second instance, another gentleman was overheard telling his wife on the phone that he was driving along the airport road and that everything was fine, while he was actually standing in a supermarket. Having observed these men, I pointed out in the article that these men could have caused serious physical and psychological harm to these two women.

The gentleman who dumped the young lady at the party could have robbed her of the desire to date another man or even build a model relationship with him. The one who told his wife that he was driving towards the airport when, in actuality, he was standing in a supermarket could have caused her to have a heart attack if she had bumped into him in the supermarket at that same time.
