MASSY TECHNOLOGIES Infocom Jamaica has partnered with French company Schneider Electric to distribute cooling and power equipment to local companies.

Massy Infocom CEO Anthony Smith said the company is targeting hotels, financial firms, and BPO centres for business.

Schneider Electric SE specialises in digital energy management. Manuel Rodrigues, a sales director for Schneider in the Caribbean, said on Friday that Massy was selected for that roll-out of services in key Caribbean markets after achieving elite partner status under its Electric ITD Channel Partner programme.

The French multinational has a presence in about 100 countries.

The terms of the Massy-Schneider

distribution partnership was not disclosed, but Smith said his company would be making a substantial capital outlay, the size of which would be determined by customer take-up.

“We will have to put in some amount of stock and training. It will be in the millions,” he told the Financial Gleaner.

As to the size of the power and cooling market in Jamaica, and Massy’s targets, he said it was commercially sensitive information. He said the market was split into three segments – real enterprise; SMBs or small and medium businesses; and mid-point between the two – and that prices for cooling and power equipment could range from US$10,000 for a small UPS up to US$200,000 and US$300,000 for large systems.

“It is a wide market, ranging from mom and pop stores, which want their computers to be up all the time, to persons who have data centres covering, for example, four floors of a building, with missioncritical IT equipment which needs to be always on. Their systems will cost in the range of US$300,000 to US$400,000,” he said.

Massy Infocom offers design, implementation, and maintenance of ICT systems; financial technologies, imaging, and printing, communications software; as well as business intelligence and analytics. Smith said 30 per cent of revenues come from Government contracts.
