Alex Ihama: Man of purpose
ACCORDING TO theologian, organist, writer, humanitarian, philosopher, and physician Albert Schweitzer, “The purpose of human life is to serve and to show compassion and the will to help others.” Following that ideology with a vision to change a nation one presentation at a time is Canada’s number-one inspirational speaker, Alex Ihama.
Ihama recently visited Jamaica for a leadership summit, and Outlook caught up with the entrepreneur for a heart-to-heart. Described as a passionate and powerful speaker, he discusses serious topics by incorporating humour into his technique because people, he said, resonate with humour and passion.
It’s one thing to have knowledge to disseminate, but it’s
another thing to keep the audience engaged. “(The) intensity and propensity of my messages is what makes me stand out among the rest. I get under your skin, in a challenging, thought-provoking but rewarding way.”
While he focuses on revealing clear-cut paths for his clients or audience, through tapping into their
God-given talents, his own road towards self-discovery was a rocky one.
“I was always seen as a troubled youth, but in hindsight, it was because I was so inquisitive.” He was always questioning things,
wanting to challenge the status
In 2006, Ihama was going through massive challenges in his life and didn’t know where to go. While taking a course in technology at one of the colleges in Toronto, Canada, he went
‘The joy of the Lord is my strength.’
