The HEART Trust/NTA – ensuring a high-calibre educational experience

-

THE HEART Trust/NTA is proud to announce during Library and Information Week 2019 that at the beginning of October, the institution was granted a tertiary licence by the Jamaican Copyright Licensing Agency (JAMCOPY). This tertiary licensing agreement will allow the HEART Trust/NTA to legally create coursepacks from reproduced works as well as support research, archival and administrative activities.

Copyright is fundamental to education. It gives instructors and students the opportunity to legally access and share information, thus allowing the skills training institution to enhance and innovate. With this move, the HEART Trust/NTA has ensured that its students will have a high-calibre educational experience through the teaching staff being able to legally access and reproduce specific copyrighted material.

Copyright licensing agreements are essential to the educational process. They bolster the educational provisions within the Copyright Act to cater to the content requirements of education providers. The tertiary licensing agreement also makes provisions for students and members of staff of all abilities and includes access to audio, Braille and large print files and documents. HEART Trust/NTA is committed to creating a comprehensive learning environment for all its students. The agreement between HEART Trust/NTA and JAMCOPY also includes Licensing Awareness Training Sessions for members of the organisation’s staff to support the copyright training of HEART personnel. The HEART Trust/ NTA is proud to support Library and Information Week 2019 and is committed to providing its staff and students access to copyrighted material that will enhance the institution’s teaching and learning methods.
