Learning for Living
WE HAVE reached the monumental milestone of 50 years, having gone from a tiny classroom of six students on Oxford Road to a 13-acre campus in the foothills of Cherry Gardens with over 700 students.
Our contribution to Jamaica over the period has far exceeded anyone’s expectations: alumni now form part of the Jamaican society and the overseas diaspora, covering numerous disciplines and professions. The school motto – ‘Learning for Living’.
A big thank you to all the teachers, parents, board of governors, administrators, staff, and benefactors, and I would especially like to acknowledge the leadership provided by the previous chairmen, who had the ultimate responsibility for growth and development.
Today, we are the largest international school in Jamaica with all our accreditations, offering from K1 to our flagship programme – the International Baccalaureate – and with over 40 nationalities enrolled. Our achievements are recognised in academics, sports, robotics, the arts, and in community involvement.
With respect to our future, our priorities will be the establishment of the Hillel Alumni Foundation and the construction of a 500-seat auditorium and performing arts centre.
In closing, I am deeply honoured to be sitting at the head of Hillel Academy and hope that I live up to the expectations of those before me.

Blessed are You Lord our God, Ruler of the Universe who has given us life, sustained us, and allowed us to reach this day. MARK HARRIS
