Suggestions to control COVID-19

THE EDITOR, MADAM:

I LISTENED to the Ministry of Health press conference yesterday, and trying to keep infected persons anonymous is very difficult and, in fact, not helpful as things open up around us. I believe people need to know as much as possible, if not everything, in order to protect themselves and the community.

Look at the Wray & Nephew development coming from this case. The repercussions of protecting information can be horrific. Look at the United States of America now. Give the people the facts and insist on responsibility and self-protection.

I imagine that all the passengers on that flight from Britain are under management if they are here. I believe that there must be an isolation centre at the airports. It must be easier than travelling all over to find one. All passengers must be processed before being allowed to leave the airports. What about the airport staff, their protection, and work procedure now. They are on the firing line.

Water, the best and maybe the easiest protection, must be available to the most needy and at risk. Water must be made available to people where it is not. No disconnections now and no high-priced water supply by the expensive trucks.

Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is another problem. I know Jones Town wanted to have a community-based arrangement with JPS but this new management group and the new rates are not going to work. Members of Parliament need to have arrangements made for affordable payment rather than no payment, more theft, more disconnections, more fires.

Mandatory 24-hour cleaning/ spraying, whatever, of the buses and taxis or take them off the road; supermarkets and all the bank machines, too, or face closure. Customers must observe and play their part as well.
