Youthlink/Honey Bun High Achievers School Tour at Denbigh High School
THE YOUTHLINK/HONEY Bun High Achievers School Tour continues to be a successful, well-liked event that leaves its attendees feeling invigorated and longing for more of its unparalleled staging, prizes, and surprises. Not only does it provide much-needed entertainment to dissolve the bland effect of ordinary school life, but the rush of the accomplishment continues to be seen on the faces of the students who are selected as Honey Bun High Achievers.
On Tuesday, February 11, the tour embarked on a trail to Jackson Street, May Pen, Clarendon, to make a historic stop at Denbigh High School. MC Cornelius Grant’s mesmerizing effect on his audience was again apparent in the effortless way he attracts students, teachers, auxiliary staff members, the principal and, in some cases, community members towards his effervescent presence and the centre of the entertainment.
“This is the Youthlink/ Honey Bun High Achievers School Tour, and we are here to award the Denbigh High high achievers!” said Grant. He immediately stirred up ear-rupturing screams of anticipation and excitement from a highly receptive crowd of students.
“Sir, if I buy 12 of them, I can get 12 products? A lunch that, enuh!” said second-form student Martina Thompson, before passionately making her way to the Youthlink booth.
A great deal of students followed behind, completely overwhelming the staff with incredible zeal. First-form student Jarae Pusey was seen clutching a total of eight Youthlink magazines. When asked where her products were so her picture could be taken, she hilariously responded, “Mi eat dem!”
EXCEPTIONAL SUPPORT
The Denbigh High students were exceptional in their support and purchased all the Youthlink magazines. Many could be seem holding on to at least five different Honey Bun products and Sparkling CranWATA – with some walking around with their bags loaded. The level of participation was very high, despite the audacious radiation of the sun. The craving for the Honey Bun snacks, Sparkling CranWATA, as well as the lively entertainment and music were more than enough to keep the spirits of the students and teachers ignited throughout the day’s event. Faculty adviser for the High Flyers Association and academic excellence officer Jeffrey Dawkins praised Youthlink and Honey Bun for taking on the initiative of rewarding students for their hard work, noting that this will encourage consistency among others. “We believe in recognising and encouraging a high standard of work, and we appreciate and applaud Youthlink and Honey Bun for their part in recognising our outstanding students. Today was absolutely amazing! It allowed our students to see that they will definitely be rewarded for their hard work and to promote consistency for those who have been doing well. This is the sort of motivation and support our students need as they strive for excellence,” he said. “Today’s event saw students enjoying themselves while they were being entertained by the Honey Bun dancers and a very talented MC. I definitely felt a sense of pride as I saw all the awardees standing proud with their badges of excellence. I look forward to this partnership as Denbigh High School, Youthlink and Honey Bun continue to support and encourage hard work and excellence in our nation’s children.”
This season’s tour was sponsored by Squeezz and Sparkling CranWATA.
