Humans come with a manual

THE EDITOR, Madam

WHEN WE buy a car, we get a manual with it. That manual tells us what we can safely do with the car, what we must do, or avoid doing, to get our car running at maximum effectiveness.

The most complex machine on this Earth is man. He can manage every other living creation on Earth. He can even create some things himself, a wonderful song to lift our spirits, a speech comprising words to motivate us, train other animals to entertain us, ad infinitum. He, too, comes with a manual. That manual is known as the Bible.

God knows what we’ll be even before we were born (Jeremiah 1:5).

THE LAST DAYS

The Bible foretells how man would behave in the last days. (2 Tim 3:1-5; Selfish, loving money more than people, not open to any agreement, proud, etc; Matthew 24:12 increasingly lawless, cold).

So many people argue that we must be that way because God said it, so it must happen. Does that mean that He predestined us to be more vicious and evil now?

No. It means that because God created all living creatures, and He is all-knowing, it is possible for Him to know or to see with 100 per cent accuracy what we will do.

He also created the onceperfect angel now called Satan, so He also knows exactly how he will behave. Revelation 12:9-12 tells us that Satan is cast down to the Earth and he is very angry. So because of his anger, we will be afflicted with many diseases, natural disasters. (Remember the ones he used to kill Job’s children and his animals? Read Job chapters 1 & 2.) God knows that that is how Satan will behave when he is angry, so He tells us.

By our decisions and actions we decide whether prophesies will be fulfilled on us negatively or positively. We decide whether we will be proud, murder others, or we will be humble and love others as ourselves.

Let us be careful about which aspect of prophecy our actions fulfil as we go about our daily lives.
