1931: Seymour Mullings is born at Cave Valley, St Ann, the son of Sylvester and Victoria Mullings.
1933: An earthquake shock rocks Jamaica for six seconds at approximately 3 a.m.
1955: Members of the St James Parochial Board agree by majority vote to change the name of Montego Bay to City of Montego.
1960: A Select Committee, under the chairmanship of Sir Robert Kirkwood, completes its detailed consideration of the provisions of the banking law and the law establishing the Bank of Jamaica.
1960: Government circles express pride and pleasure at the news that a Jamaica loan of £4 million is oversubscribed within five minutes in London.
1962: Member of the Legislative Council, Esme Grant, is appointed parliamentary secretary to the Ministry of Education and is sworn in at King’s House.
1964: The new hydrogen plant of Jamaica Oxygen and Acetylene Ltd, at Ferry in St Catherine, is officially opened by Minister of Trade and Industry, Robert Lightbourne.
