CANADIAN MODEL Alyshia Miller, who is also the wife of Olympian Asafa Powell, is expecting her second bundle of joy, and she could not be happier. But the prenatal journey hasn’t been easy this time around.

“My pregnancy has been a roller-coaster ride so far. I went through nausea, dizziness, exhaustion and migraines during my first trimester. Whereas with Amieke, I had it completely easy. Everything felt like a breeze. So, each pregnancy is really different,” she told Flair, adding that the discomfort has subsided with the passing of her first trimester.

Now the soon-to-be mom of two is enjoying every moment of her burgeoning belly and family. Her favourite aspects of her pregnancy are hearing her baby’s heartbeat, and feeling the flutters and kicks.

MIXED EMOTIONS

Miller said after she found out that she was pregnant, she was flooded with mixed emotions. Ecstatic, anxious, and overwhelmed, she always wanted a second child, but with the uncertainty of this unprecedented time and the new normal that now exists, she wasn’t so keen on the timing. “As mothers, however, we learn to have the balance of career and raising our little ones,” she reaffirmed.

When it comes to modelling and growing a little one in the tummy, her agency switches gears by marketing the model for maternity wear. But that typically starts at around seven months when the baby bump is at a decent size. So in the interim, she has been working out and sending i n bump updates while working on some upcoming personal projects, “It has given me the time to bring some business ideas to life,” she added.

On matters of gender preference, Miller highlighted that her husband isn’t leaning towards wanting a boy or a girl; his only desire is a healthy baby. Although mommy is team healthy as well, she would love to have a baby girl. “What matters the most is having a healthy baby, a safe pregnancy and delivery. We are excited about our growing family,” she said.
