Allow diaspora members to vote

-

THE EDITOR, Madam:

OVERSEAS REMIT TANCES, particularly those from the United States, are such a significant benefit and source of revenue to Jamaican families and, by extension, the Jamaican economy. The Government of Jamaica (GOJ) should seriously consider allowing members of the Jamaican diaspora to vote in the general elections, and that they be given the constitutional right to have one independent seat in the Senate.

Without the funds sent to Jamaica by members of the diaspora, many Jamaicans would go hungry, or would not be able to pay their bills.

It’s time for the GOJ to do the aforementioned.
