DANIEL GREEN netted a brace as Mount Pleasant turned back Tivoli Gardens 4-1 in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) yesterday, and in the process, climbed to the top of the goascoring chart with 12 goals.

Green has overtaken former leading scorer Atapharoy Bygrave of Dunbeholden, who has 11 strikes, and who had led for most of the season.

Trivante Stewart also got a double in the game, and the win pushed the St Ann-based club to 35 points, just one behind Arnett Gardens and five points adrift of leaders Waterhouse and Dunbeholden.

Green fired the home team into the lead after just 16 minutes but Warner Brown, with his fifth goal of the season, pulled Tivoli Gardens on level terms.

LATE STRIKES

However, Green restored the home team’s lead in the 62nd minute before Stewart added late strikes in the 76th and 86th minutes.

Meanwhile, in the Clarendon derby at Effortville, Levaughn Williams’ dramatic added-time penalty was the only difference between the teams.

The win moved Humble Lion to 21 points, three behind seventhplace Harbour View. Vere are tenth on 16 points.

In today’s games, Portmore take on Montego United at 5 p.m., and Molynes face Arnett Gardens at 7:30 p.m. Both games will be played at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in Arnett Gardens.
