Whose secrets does Warmy hold?

IF THERE is ever a politician whose name will go down in infamy as the most boorish member of parliament ever, my nominee would be the 5,000 vote margin winner when de rest a dem a win by 1,00 votes, Everald Warmington. Here’s why.

2011 – When queries were made about the ethics of him being in the unconstitutional position of being a member of parliament, while being a United States citizen, Warmy told TV anchor, Kerline Brown to “Go to hell!” on live TV.

August, 2015 – A Gleaner photojournalist was roughed up at the party’s Belmont Road headquarters as she tried to take photos of him. He later apologised, blaming his actions on a groggy state caused by pain and medication. Days later, the infamous picture of him flipping the bird high in the air while wearing a neck brace appeared as he again objected to his picture being taken.

January 2016 – Minister Lisa Hanna was called a Jezebel in Parliament. Several shouts of shut yuh mout were included in the tirade levelled at her. In all fairness, Warmy did offer an apology afterwards. Sort of. “Firstly, I am not crazy, therefore, I would not have called a member name without cause. There must have been a reason for me to have said what I said. I did not invent the word Jezebel. It came from the Bible and it aptly describes her behaviour.”

April 2016 – In a bizarre turn of events, Warmy was appointed a government minister, quietly and discreetly, long after the originally announced Cabinet was sworn in. Speculation still abounds as to why he was merely an afterthought in the strategic plans of Prime Minister Holness, or was there a power behind the throne making that late-hour decision?

October 2018 – When a reporter called Warmy to get information on a strike, the following happened: “Ma’am don’t call me and ask me any damn nonsense! If there is a strike you speak to contractor and workers! Don’t call me as the minister and…the minist… the gover… the government employ… Don’t call me on my phone! Get off my phone!” Call ended.

August 2020 – MP Ronnie Thwaites was shouted down by Warmy as he made a point that our paragon of good morals and decency found offensive to the Honourable House. “Point of order! This is the last person to take his rudeness and impertinence to this House! Don’t let me take you on now! OK! please don’t! You have too much thing in a glass house, don’t throw stone, and I can start talking right now and you’ll run through the door! You, personally! You first to run to the door if I start talking about your glass house! You know that! You have too many things in closet hiding that can talk about, that we all know about! So please don’t take your rudeness here!” he threatened.

May 2021 – Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson requested an official report into an incident involving Minister Warmy and the police. This after a video captured Warmy screaming at the officers and using what appears to be expletives, while complaining to another party on his cell phone he identified as Minister of National Security Horace Chang. Warmy was outside during curfew hours, which were being monitored by the cops.

October 2021 – A heated exchange occurred with MP Anthony Hylton who tried to make a point of order in response to Warmy’s speech. “Take your seat man! Take your seat! That’s why you’re a quashie lawyer! You don’t understand what the rules are!” When pressed to withdraw that statement he retorted: “I’m prepared to withdraw this statement I have made, if you can tell me one single case he has won in court!”

October 2022 – At a sitting of Parliament, another fracas erupted between Opposition MP Anthony Hylton and Warmy, who was stoutly defending why he was late. Unfortunately, the situation spiralled out of control in usual Warmy style. “Anybody can say that to me except a quashie lawyer! So don’t you do it again! The only place you fit for is Riverton City at the dump!”

November 2022 – In this latest episode of I can say anything my low emotionally intelligent brain wants, and nothing can come of it: “Dem use to sey my leader born yah. Seaga born a Boston because of accident, wey Mark Golding mother and father come from” He continued, “So don’t talk say my leader born yah and you attack [Edward] Seaga and you don’t attack this leader. If he wants to be prime minister go back a England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland, but him nah beat Michael Andrew Holness, I don’t talk about colour and race, but they started it, so let me finish it.”

“Dem sey Seaga born up deh so, but wey fi dem leader come from? Backra master!”

We cannot preach values and attitudes to the man in the street when our leaders tolerate vile, misogynistic, racist bullying from one among their ranks. In any society that values model citizenry, the outcries for the sanctioning of Warmy would have grown louder with each classless act. Nobody in a position to condemn this behaviour, from civil society to the church, or rein it in, such as his colleagues and bosses, and yet choose not to, has any moral authority to speak to any of us about our morals and attitudes. This selective outrage and enforcement are tearing up the moral fabric of society.

Enough is enough! Fix your house politicians, before you regulate mine! Signed – Taxi drivers et al
