THE UNIVERSITY of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Ja) is a catalyst for innovation, progress and evolution. As UTech, Ja commemorates 65 years of existence, we reflect not only on the years gone by, but on the profound impact it has had in shaping the nation’s future. Since its inception, UTech, Jamaica has been a crucible of brilliance, nurturing the minds that have propelled Jamaica to the forefront of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The university’s legacy is woven into the success stories of countless professionals who have become pillars of Jamaica’s economy and champions of national development.

As we rejoice in the remarkable journey of UTech, Jamaica, it is fitting to acknowledge the institution’s unwavering commitment to excellence. It has consistently defied expectations, punching above its weight and setting new standards for innovation that alums can testify to. The fruits of this dedication are evident in Jamaica’s public and private sectors with brilliant minds that have emerged from this institution, each with a piece that forms a patch of the fabric of our nation.

The University of Technology, Jamaica proudly welcomed the youngest student, 14-year-old Jada Wright, for the 2023 through 2024 academic year. By admitting this student, UTech, Ja exemplifies its ethos of inclusivity, fostering an environment where age is no barrier to pursuing higher education. As we celebrate this anniversary, the theme, ‘UTech, Jamaica Thrives at 65: Forging Technological Innovation, Driving Development’, resonates with us as we embark on a promising future guaranteed by the good we do today.

As The Visitor of the esteemed University of Technology, Jamaica, I am proud to witness the 65 years of excellence, growth, and unyielding pursuit of knowledge. May the legacy endure, and the journey continue to inspire future generations.

God bless you all.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE MOST HON SIR PATRICK ALLEN ON GCMG CD KSTJ
