The following events took place on May 10 in the years identified:

1963: Gregory Charles Stuart, 9-month old son of Dr Kenneth Stuart and Mrs. Stuart of 32 University Close in St Andrew, was judged Champion Baby at the Cow and Gate Baby Show presented at the Issa Department Store on King Street, Kingston. Second place prize went to Dwight Miller, oneyear-old son of Mr and Mrs Alanzo Miller of 10 Carnarvan Street, Rollington Town.

1973: Willingnes­s of the member states to participat­e more closely in orienting the activities of the Bank was the high point of the fourteenth annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the InterAmeri­can Developmen­t Bank, which ended here. Senor Antonio Mena, President of the Bank said this in his closing statement to the meeting as it held its fifth and final plenary session at the ornate Grand Jamaica Suite of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.

1990: Seymour Mullings, minister of finance, announced no new taxes at the opening of the 1990/91 budget debate. However, revenue resources will be supplement­ed by a 90 per cent increase in tax on cruise-ship passengers. Mr Mullings said that the expenditur­e estimates of $11,116 million would be financed via tax revenue of $7, 318 million; non-tax revenue of $480 million; transfer from the Capital Developmen­t Fund of $355 million: capital revenue of $832 million; external loan resources of $1,782 million, and domestic loans of $350 million.
