Wanted person killed in gun attack
The St Catherine North police have acknowledged that one of two men killed in a gun attack in Angel Heights, St Catherine, on Tuesday was a wanted man.
Information reaching THE STAR is that the dead men, Leonard ‘ Riot’ Clarke, 31, and crane operator Leroy Gordon, 52, of a Peters Close, Spanish Town, address were killed by men allegedly from a rival gang.
According to police reports, about 10: 30 p. m., persons were standing close to a bar in the squatter community when gunmen approached the area and opened fire.
The Spanish Town police said Clarke was wanted for a number of crimes, including murder.
SUSPECT KILLED
The Constabulary Communication Network in a release, said that at the time of his death, police records had Clarke as the main suspect in the murder of Desmond Campbell, who was shot dead on October 20 at a nightclub in Dam Head, on the outskirts of Spanish Town.
THE STAR also gathered that Clarke was wanted for shooting at the police, after he and other gunmen shot at a police team in the Crescent Heights area in June of 2011. Clarke has been on the police radar as he was a known member of the reputed One Order gang. Last night’s incident, according to the police, was unfortunate for Gordon who they theorise was at the wrong place at the wrong time as the gunmen went in search of Clarke and caught up with him.
