Three killed in vehicular crash

Three people, one of them a teen, were killed in a vehicular crash on the Barrett Town main road in St James earlier today. Three other persons were also injured in the crash.

Dead are: 17- year- old Daniel Carty and 22year- old Romain McLean, both of Barrett Hall in the parish, and 27- year- old Kemar Campbell, a mechanic of Long Bay district, also in St James.

Informatio­n received is that about 1 p. m., the now deceased, along with a fourth man, were in a Mitsubishi Lancer motor car that was heading towards Falmouth, Trelawny. The motor car allegedly attempted to overtake a number of vehicles and crashed head- on into a Hyundai motor truck; the motor truck then overturned.

McLean, who was the driver of the motor car, along with the other three passengers of the Mitsubishi Lancer, as well as the driver of the motor truck and his passenger, were all taken to hospital, where Carty, McLean and Campbell were pronounced dead. The fourth passenger of the motor car is said to be in critical condition, while the two men who were aboard the motor truck reportedly sustained minor injuries.
