Hanover man remanded for stealing rum

-

AHanover man, who confessed to stealing a bottle of rum from a store in Montego Bay, was remanded in police custody, until December 20 when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Thirty-eight-year-old labourer Ian Hanson, of a Lucea address in Hanover, pleaded guilty to simple larceny, in which it is alleged that he went to a supermarket in Montego Bay and stole a bottle of rum.

It was not disclosed when the incident had occurred.

“Why did you do that, sir?” Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tie asked Hanson.

“Is a fare me did a look to go home,” said Hanson.

“So how is it you came to Montego Bay?” asked Tie.

“Is a mason work I did on the streetside, and I was working with a mason from Lucea. I went to link one of my friends and they (co-workers) left me,” Hanson explained.

Tie ordered that a socialenquiry report be prepared to aid in determining Hanson’s sentence and that his criminal records be brought to court. “I am going to set this case for December 20, and you will be brought back then,” Tie told Hanson.

“Out of an abundance of caution, I’ll ask for his criminal records,” the magistrate added.
