Mightful13 to revisit ‘Cool Operator’

-

For the first time since the original release of ‘ Cool Operator’ in the 1970s, the rhythm and song have been revisited with a fresh and invigorating line-up of artistes by Mightful13 Records.

Cool Operator is the 1972 artistry of legendary reggae singer Delroy Wilson and producer Bunny ‘Striker’ Lee. Their effort was an i nstant hit, which eventually became Wilson’s moniker.

Mightful13 Records, owned and operated by Fitzroy Francis, is a reggae-oriented music label which is based in Queens, New York. The label has been in existence for two years.

This rhythm compilation album, titled Operator2013 Rhythm Velocity, was released earlier in the year and brings about the second tribute to both men after Andrew Bees’ chart-topping cover of Better Must Come, which they released 72’ as well.

Operator2013 Rhythm Velocity is an eight-track compilation of sweet melodies from seasoned artistes, musicians and emerging talents from the United States and Jamaica. The project is being distributed worldwide by VP Records. No two songs are alike on this project, each tells a clear story in a catchy way.

At current, Tabeta Cshae’s If You Don’t Wake, Little Hero’s Come Off A Wi Name and Andrew Bees’ Cool Operator, is doing extremely well in radioland both local and overseas.

Cool Operator went number one in England for three weeks on Tropical TV FM and World Reggae Beat Top 10, before a remix with the fast-emerging female reggae artiste, Chyna Nicole, was released.

The album itself lies at No.11 on the New York Foundation Radio Top 20.

Other tracks also include King Yellow man’s No Heart, Zanadu’s Reaching Out for Love, Shanti High’s My Sunshine and Bassie Dee’s Work to Do.

Also on the rhythm is a song in Spanish entitled Energia Libre/Free Energy done by popular Spain international musician Tete Man Levi.

Francis, a Jamaican now residing in New York, said a lot of hard work and time was invested in this project. He also said that he was happy with the public’s appreciation of the project, but was not surprised.

“This project was worked on with a lot of energy and hard work, long nights, long days, but the work is being paid off, which I am very grateful for. However, it (success) comes as no surprise though,” he said.

The project was also produced by international radio broadcaster Empress Skortcher of Global Links Radio and mixed by renowned legendary engineer Phillip Smart.
