Ghetto Splash stage show returns
Ghetto Splash stage show returns on December 17 at the Waterhouse MiniStadium after a 17-year absence from the local entertainment scene.
The once popular show attracted some of the leading reggae and dancehall acts in the past, and the last show held on December 17, 1996 at Heroes Circle saw approximately 50,000 persons attending.
As it was in the past, the concert will be free. This year’s event will see Boom Energy Drink as title sponsor, and promoted by Shocking Vibes Production and Downsound Records.
“Well, Ghetto Splash returns after 17 years because based on economical pressure, it’s not often that the youths get to see the stars in action,” said Patrick Roberts, CEO of Shocking Vibes Production.
He added, “The difference back then between Sumfest or Sting and Ghetto Splash was entry fee. It’s the same level of production.”
CONFIRMED ACTS
Roberts disclosed that acts already confirmed are Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Popcaan, Elephant Man, KipRich, Tony Rebel, Jah Bouks, Ninja Man, Nature, Specialist, Harry Toddler, Jahmiel, Bugle, Laden, Assassin, Aidonia, Chris Martin, Tarrus Riley, Romain Virgo, Wayne Marshall, Macka Diamond, Spice and Tifa.
There will also be a four-the-hard way with veteran entertainers, Charlie Chaplin, Josey Wales, General Trees and Admiral Bailey.
Ghetto Splash started in 1989 in Craig Town, but had outgrown the venue and was moved to Heroes Circle in 1996. Now, all is set for a December 17 return.
