AFTER losing for the fifth time in nine matches, a 0-2 defeat at Tivoli Gardens on Sunday, Humble Lion’s management said it will not comment on the future of coach Lenworth Hyde.
The Clarendon club made it to last season’s semi-final but ditched Donovan Duckie, replacing him with Hyde, who is in his second spell at Effortville.
STAR Sports sources have indicated that Hyde is facing the boot, living on borrowed time while the club searches for a new trainer. Efforts to get a comment from him, however, were unsuccessful.
Hyde has failed to produce the results the club had anticipated. Humble Lion have conceded 14 goals, the joint second-worst defensive record in the league, joined by Boys’ Town and Waterhouse, better than only promoted Sandals, who have 17 against.
FIVE GAMES
In nine outings this season, Humble Lion have won two matches, drawn twice and lost five games. They have scored nine goals, joint fourth highest in the league with Cavalier, trailing Arnett, Portmore and University of the West Indies.
Manager Sheldon Holness said the club “was working on the matter” when asked whether Hyde still had the confidence of the club.
“Based on instructions from the directors, I am not prepared to give a media release. I am not prepared to comment on it just yet, but just to say we are working on the matter. As soon as we have a comment, the media will be informed,” he stated.
Sunday’s game will be a big test for Hyde and Humble Lion, hosting Duckie’s struggling Waterhouse at Effortville. Defeat could very well end Hyde’s tenure.
