St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) will be forced to carry the weight of being the only remaining rural area team in the ISSA/FLOW Super Cup when they meet Calabar High at Sabina Park this evening at 5, but head coach Omar ‘Rambo’ Wedderburn said there is no real pressure as it is not strange to them. “This not new to us, being the only rural team in the semi-final of the Super Cup. STETHS is always the team that promotes the rural to the fullest,” said Wedderburn, who believes today will just be another game day that they are humbly awaiting.

The quality of the rural area teams, has been questioned in comparison to the Corporate Area teams backed up with the statistics over the past four years of the competition, where the latter has been dominant. However, coach Wedderburn believes that there is great quality among the rural teams that just did not get the job done last week.

“No, I wouldn’t say that because I’m sure we have quality teams in the daCosta Cup. You cannot really put that on a team until the match day, and it’s just unfortunate they didn’t get the job done,” said Wedderburn.

When asked about the quality of his team and their chances of being the first daCosta Cup team to bring home the prestigious Super Cup, Wedderburn told STAR Sports that he will not be counting his chickens before they are hatched. “Honestly, I would be stupid to be talking about the finals and not play the semi-finals as yet. We are concentrating on Saturday’s match, so that is where our preparation is,” said Wedderburn. On paper, Calabar would be considered the weakest Corporate Area team in the competition, but Coach Wedderburn said that he will not be taking them likely as they defeated a strong daCosta Cup team, Clarendon College, to advance to the semi-finals.
